Oregon Pear Sidecar

Ever have one of those days that leaves you wanting a cocktail that will knock you off your feet (figuratively and literally)?  The panther has found the cure.  The Oregon Pear Sidecar is so delicious and lovely, but be warned, it has a punch to it.  This cocktail is smooth and flavored with yummy pear goodness.

This exceptional recipe comes from the book, "Kathy Casey's Northwest Table" by Kathy Casey.
Here is the recipe for the Oregon Pear Sidecar:

1/8 orange or 1/4 tangerine
superfine sugar for rimming glass
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce Clear Creek Pear Brandy
3/4 oz simple syrup
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
Pinch of ground cloves

garnish: paper-thin slice of pear

Rim a cocktail glass by first wiping the edge all around with the piece of orange, then dipping the rim into superfine sugar.

Squeeze and drop the citrus wedge into a cocktail shaker, then fill with ice.  Measure in the vodka, brandy simple syrup and lemon juice.  Cap the shaker and shake vigorously at least 10 times.

Strain into the glass and dust the surface of the drink very lightly with cloves.
Garnish with the pear slice.

If you are unfamiliar with the Clear Creek Pear Brandy, it is made right here in Oregon and is the BEST pear brandy we've ever tasted.  The pear flavor is superb.

This drink is pure Northwest, and great to serve to your out-of-town guests.  You will impress anyone when you serve this delicious cocktail from local ingredients.

Enjoy!
