Foodportunity PDX

It is Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday!  The panther had a bit of a "fat Monday" instead.
Always on the prowl for new and delicious places to eat, we attended Foodportunity PDX at the Portland Heathman Hotel last night.  This was a fabulous event that was a gathering of Portland chef's, restaurateurs, food writers, and foodies.  We tasted yummy samples as we roamed and mingled with others who share our love of good food.

Remember the pound cake pops we blogged about the other day? Well feast your eyes on these spectacular Chewy Fudge Cake Truffles by Artisan Cake Company.  http://www.artisancakecompany.com/
We also sampled their red velvet cream cheese cupcakes...Ah-mazing!  So light and fluffy and delicious!

Look at these cupcake toppers!  They are all 100% edible and so fabulous.  Definitely check our there website to see the incredible sculpted cakes!

We started with dessert, but we couldn't resist.  The beautiful cupcakes and chocolate cake pops just beckoned us.

Here are some of the other delicious things we sampled...

There was a good turn-out at the event and we enjoyed mingling with all the foodies there.

We worked up a thirst sampling all of the delicious offerings so next stop was the Crispin Cider table.  Crispin was sampling both their regular hard cider and their filtered hard cider.  They were served ice cold and were so deliciously refreshing.  We must confess, we were repeat visitors at this table.

We ate, we drank, we mingled, then sat in on a panel of food experts talking about social media in the food industry.  Entertainment writer, Byron Beck introduced the panelists which included Chef Greg Denton of Metrovino, Nick Zukin of Kenny & Zuke's, and Carrie Welch, a New York transplant who previously was the Public Relations VP for Food Network.

After the panel discussion, we finished the evening the same way we started: with dessert!  This time it was Honey Bars from Bees & Beans.  These fabulous treats are honey-caramel filled dark chocolate
with fleur de sel sprinkled on top.  Faith from Bees & Beans was a pleasure to talk to.  Her products are all locally made with local ingredients.  They are beautiful and delicious.  Learn more about Bees & Beans here:
It was a fun evening full of delicious nibbles, tasty drinks and great people.  Already looking forward to the next time.
Happy Nibbling!
